DANA R. MELVIN


Dana Melvin: is president and founder of Dana’s Total Fitness, a progressive health and fitness company specializing in personal fitness, conditioning, stress management, and overall nutrition. DTF offers one-on-one, corporate, and group training and counseling in the areas of: weight loss/gain, toning up, increasing strength/energy, post physical rehabilitation, stress management, nutritional management and sports training. Located in Laurel, Maryland, DTF is dedicated to serving fitness conscious people throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area since 1991.

Mr. Melvin has been a full-time physical education instructor for Prince George’s County Public Schools since 1991. Combining his knowledge in health and fitness with his desire to improve and preserve physical education in the public school system, Mr. Melvin has developed and donated his time and energy to youth programs in schools in New York and Maryland.

His admiration of physical fitness and devotion to youth fulfillment in sports, uncovered yet another talent--coaching. Mr. Melvin has extensive experience in coaching track, basketball and football. He has coached at various levels including junior high, junior varsity and varsity. Mr. Melvin’s coaching background was not limited to men’s basketball. While pursuing his teaching certification at Bowie State University, he was the assistant coach and strength and conditioning coach for the women’s basketball team.

His background in secondary school and intercollegiate sports including track and field, football and basketball culminated in the sports arena when he was chosen to play professional football with the New York Buffalo Bills following his graduation from Albany University.

Dana is also a NSPA certified personal trainer and CPR certified.
